Timeline. How we grew

  • 1999

    Lint S.r.l. is founded and begins the production and sale of the patented CoLibrì Cover System, in which a desktop book covering machine applies a protective plastic cover on books of any size in a matter of seconds.

  • 2001

    Lint S.r.l. begins the distribution of the CoLibrì Cover System on international markets. A study is undertaken to produce highly innovative models of machines and covers.

  • 2002

    The Pocket covering machine is unveiled which improves cutting precision. With a different composition, the features of the covers are also improved.

  • 2004

    Lint S.r.l. becomes CoLibrì System S.p.A. with the launch of the first national advertising investments on three Italian Mediaset TV networks to promote the CoLibrì brand to the general public.

  • 2005

    The company consolidates its relations with distributors and opens a branch office in the USA. The new Pocket covering machine is launched with upgraded electronics and LCD display. Production gets under way of new covers in stronger, scratch-resistant material. Television advertising investments increase at the same time.

  • 2006

    Branch offices are opened in Germany and France. In Italy, CoLibrì System launches a prominent campaign to boost the book heritage of libraries, with the approval and support of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities - Institute for Book Pathology. The brand is present for the third consecutive year with growing investments in television.

  • 2007

    CoLibrì System launches the Leonardo book covering machine, showcasing new technological advances. International expansion continues with the opening of two new branch offices in Spain and England..

  • 2008

    CoLibrì System increases its market share in all the countries where it is present. Larger investments are made in marketing and advertising in Italy.

  • 2009

    CoLibrì System’s reputation steadily grows in Italy and abroad. The study of new products for the world of bookshops, publishing and education gets under way.

  • 2010 - 2011

    The success of CoLibrì System is consolidated. Distribution reaches Portugal, Greece, Malta and Australia.

  • 2012

    Two new covering machines with the CoLibrì brand name are launched: e-Leonardo, which is faster, more compact and accurate; and e-DaVinci, offering the same benefits but in an XL format to protect large size books.

  • 2013

    CoLibrì launches the exclusive range of covers for books decorated with Disney characters. It also launches the CopriMaxi range: exercise book covers which are as non-toxic, strong, soft and bright as the book covers. The brand celebrates ten consecutive years of TV advertising.

  • 2014

    The CopriMaxi collection is awarded the prestigious ISPA & Innovation prize as Best Product of the year in the “Back to School” category at the Paperworld fair in Frankfurt. CoLibrì System becomes an Official Licensee of EXPO 2015. The landmark of the sale of over twenty million covers in twelve months is reached in Italy.

  • 2016

    CoLibrì decides to reinforce its management team. A new communications strategy is developed geared towards greater continuity and synergy among all the advertising vehicles. Radio is introduced alongside television for the first time with growing investments.

  • 2017

    Advertising covers are introduced, offering stationery shops the opportunity to promote their services every day on millions of covers in families everywhere.

  • 2018

    The CoLibrì brand implements a new social media communications strategy and launches Perfecta, the revolutionary gift wrapping machine for packages of all sizes in just a few seconds. The company acquires BALMAR 2000, a company specialised in the production and sale of stationery products (art carrying cases, pencil cases, exercise book covers, gift wrapping products).

  • 2019

    Lario Libri, a book distributor is acquired, bringing strong partnerships in marketing and sales. The company is a real Group: the marketing and sales structure is rationalised and now reports entirely to the parent company management team. In line with global trends, CoLibrì Eco, the first book cover in the world in Polietilene Verde™, is launched identifiable by the I’m green™ trademark. BALMAR2000 acquires DISPACO, creating the first production centre for corrugated plastic carrying cases in Italy.

  • 2020

    The entire book covering production is turned over to ECO covers; a major commitment to fulfil the growing demand for sustainability all over the world. Launch of CoLibrì Printer, the compact Bluetooth printer for customising covers and school kits with adhesive labels. The stationer can now provide a complete covering and customisation service with exceptional conditions.
